Published on: 17th May 2017

Nearly half of available places filled with over a year to go to the challenge.

Light FundThe Light Fund’s 2018 charity bike ride has already attracted nearly half the number of participants required with over a year still to go. 44 names have signed up for the 4 day, 325-mile challenge from Bristol to Dublin starting on Tuesday 12th June 2018.

The aim is for 100 riders in total to complete what is The Light Fund’s longest and toughest cycle event to date. The charity hopes to raise £150,000+ for the various good causes it supports.

Event committee member Warren Traeger commented: “We’re thrilled at the level of both individual and corporate support for this huge event at such an early stage. To already be close to the halfway mark is a real tribute to this industry and the support people feel towards The Light Fund. Four days cycling through Wales and Ireland are going to be tough, however the route mapped out by our expert events company Classic Challenge, will ensure that riders of all abilities will cope and be supported throughout the ride. We’re looking forward to more people and companies signing up so we reach our goal of 100 riders.”

The Light Fund 2018 Cycle Challenge is open to everyone globally from the licensing and associated industries. Managed by sports events company Classic Challenge, the four-day tour starts in Bristol on Tuesday 12th June 2018, taking in the stunning Welsh and Irish countryside, with challenging climbs and invigorating downhills, before culminating in Dublin on Friday 15th June. Training is recommended!

Each participant will need to pay an entry cost of £900 for a special ‘start to finish line’ package, inclusive of a £200 deposit upon registration, as well as individually fundraise for The Light Fund.
