Founded more than 30 years ago by the husband and wife team of David and Luisa Scacchetti, the couple have been joined on the management team by daughters Olivia and Amanda. The Scacchetti family said they were looking forward to a strong future working closely with experts from BlueGem.

Mamas & Papas sells more than 3,000 own-design products through its own stores, department stores, and specialist independent retailers and now sells into 59 countries.

It has recently announced a 118 store roll-out in China and in 2013 the company opened a transactional website for the US market.

Mr Scacchetti said: “BlueGem is a very well-respected private equity firm and has a great track record of working with expanding businesses such as ours, providing both investment and advice. Over the next few months the directors will be working closely with BlueGem to create a new plan for the future that will enable us to accelerate our global expansion plans.”

BlueGem’s previous investments include, among others, Liberty, the London department store and luxury fabric brand.
