The second season, comprising 52 x 12-minute episodes, is in production and is set to begin delivery to broadcasters in late Spring 2013. The series will be produced jointly by HIT Entertainment in London, UK and Nelvana Studio in Toronto, Canada.
Treehouse in Canada, CBeebies in the UK, and Nick Jr in the US, have committed to air Season 2 of Mike the Knight starting in May in Canada, this Summer in the UK and later in the Autumn in the US. The first season debuted to high acclaim and viewership, and to date, it has been sold to 27 broadcasters in 112 territories around the world.
Edward Catchpole, senior vice president HIT Brands at HIT Entertainment, said: “We’re thrilled to greenlight a second season of Mike the Knight with Nelvana. Mike has experienced a tremendous reception around the world on broadcast so we’re delighted to deliver even more magical, medieval adventures to the many pre-school boys and girls that have been clamouring for them.”
