Mothercare has appointed Kevin Rusling as its managing director of international, who will join the business in March next year.
Kevin Rusling, who was previously at M&S and George at Asda, will take over responsibility from chief executive Mark Newton-James next March.
The company, which has a presence in 56 countries, has performed well internationally compared to the UK market. The international division contributes to 60% of Mothercare’s gross sales. Sales increased in the first half of 2016/2017, rising 7.7%.
Mark Newton-James commented: “The extensive experience [Kevin] brings to our business will enable us to continue to successfully drive our international strategy and deliver our vision of being the leading global retailer for parents and young children.”
“I am very much looking forward to working with the global teams to develop the brand further both in stores and online,” added Kevin. “Mothercare has a strong heritage, a clear vision and the potential as we transform the business is hugely exciting.”
