Nancy B’s Science Club is a range of science tools aimed to encourage children, in particular girls, to investigate and explore the world of science. Nancy Balter, a former maths teacher, is behind Learning Resources’ ‘Nancy B’ Science Club brand. She has a degree in biology from Yale University, as well as a Master’s in Science Education from the University of Southern California. Her trip is designed to increase visibility for the Nancy B brand, whilst providing support to key Learning Resources’ retailers.
Dennis Blackmore, MD, Learning Resources, said: “Nancy is a fantastic brand ambassador and her skills honed during her time as a teacher mean she has an amazing ability to engage with children. We’ve filled almost every minute of her time here in the UK, including a number of in-store demonstrations with some of our leading stockists. She’s also shared her own personal insight about the brand with our team, which better informs how we are able to present the range to retailers.”
Chris Beardmore, Retail Sales manager, Learning Resources, added: “The Nancy B events were a massive success and definitely drove home the value in giving children an opportunity to get hands on with our products. Positive experiences can really help in terms of raising awareness and driving sales which is why, following positive feedback, we’re looking at holding more hands-on workshops with further retail partners. Having Nancy at the event was crucial in capturing the interest and imagination of the children and it was great to overhear so many of them asking their parents if they could buy some of the products.”
Events were also held at Jarrolds department store in Norwich and The Bentall Centre in Kingston upon Thames.
The Nancy B range is aimed at children aged 8-11. Made to be aesthetically pleasing, the range, which includes the AquaScope, Crime Solver Scope, Binoculars, Microscope and MoonScope, also comes with an activity journal to help draw users into the world of science.
