Argos is on the hunt for 150 new employees for its technology division, as it bolsters its digital shopping operations.
The retailer, which is owned by Sainsbury’s, will enlarge its tech team by 25%, with most of the roles based in its London Victoria tech hub. A handful of jobs will also be based at the head office in Milton Keynes.
The roles span between graduate and principal level, and will add to the 300 people who have already been employed by Argos’s tech hub since its launch in 2014.
John Rogers, chief executive at Argos, commented: “It’s great to see a British business like Argos leading in tech. Around 60% of our business today starts online and over 70% of those sales are on mobile devices. This investment in our people will ensure we remain at the forefront of retail technology.”
He continued: “Creating 150 new permanent tech roles demonstrates the importance we place on growing and nurturing our own tech talent, ensuring Argos is a fantastic place to shop for our customers. We’re excited by what our teams are achieving so far and we’re looking for more people who not only want to build today’s tech, but also to think big and create new experiences and functionality that our customers don’t even know they want yet.”
