Final fundraising push underway for David Stephen

Published on: 17th May 2018

Limited time remains to reach the JustGiving campaign goal.

Robert Hookway, a close friend of David, has been raising funds to bring him home from Michigan after a series of nasty falls left him bed-bound in a nursing home.

After just one week of campaigning, the current total stands at over £25,000 of the £30,000 target – a testament to the generosity and compassion of those in the toy industry.

However, time is short the raise the remaining funds, which will enable David to be flown back to the UK for treatment in a specialist care facility for people with spinal injuries.

A statement from Robert reads: “A big thank you to everyone who has donated to help bring David Stephen home. In just under a week we are almost two thirds of the way there but we still need that final third. We really need to try to hit the target as soon as possible so we can secure the room we have provisionally reserved for David. It is one of the larger rooms in the facility – which we have been told David really needs because of the level of care he requires – and they don’t come up very often, so we are desperate to ensure we have the funds.”
