HTI Group’s Emma Pilgrim raises money for charity

Published on: 4th December 2018

Emma has clocked up 93 miles and 140,000 competitive steps running throughout 2018 to raise money for mental health charity, Mind.

Emma has donned her running gear once a month, entering 10Ks, half marathons and athletic challenges such as Tough Mudder and Water Wipeout in a bid to help raise funds for the charity. So far Emma has helped raise over £600 to support Mind’s great work, including therapy and crisis care for the 1 in 4 Brits who suffer from mental health illnesses.

Emma’s quest to raise funds for this charity started when she discovered that running provided her own form of therapy and helped with anxiety, releasing endorphins and freeing her mind from the pressures of modern life.

Events completed throughout 2018 include the Blackpool 10K in February, the Liverpool half-marathon in March, Water Wipeout in July and the Amsterdam half-marathon in October. In December, Emma will complete her final run of the year with the Longridge Christmas Pudding Run taking place on Sunday 9th.

Emma Pilgrim, junior product manager for HTI Group, commented: “I knew at the start of the year taking part in 12 competitive races would be a real challenge – especially with all of the training which goes into preparing for them and the strain that you’re under when competing. At times, I’ve really had to dig deep like in the Peak District race, battling the elements including heavy snow in order to complete the race, but my battles are somewhat insignificant in comparison to some of the people who are supported by Mind on a daily basis, which is why I’m so proud to be doing what I am.”
