Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker final trailer released

Published on: 22nd October 2019

A new trailer for the upcoming film was screened during a game between the New York Jets and New England Patriots this week.

The trailer begins with Rey running through a forest with her light saber and includes battle scenes and many of the characters and droids from the Star Wars universe. To highlight the conclusion of the franchise, a voiceover proclaims: “The saga will end … the story lives forever.” Luke Skywalker is heard telling Rey, “The force will be with you … always”, and C-3PO is also seen saying: “Taking one last look … at my friends.”

Billy Dee Williams is returning to play Lando Calrissian in the final instalment of the saga. Mark Hamill, Billie Lourd and, thanks to archival footage, even Carrie Fisher will make an appearance. The movie will also feature Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, Lupita Nyong’o as Maz Kanata, Kelly Marie Tran as Rose, Domhnall Gleeson as Hux, Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca, Anthony Daniels as C-3PO, Jimmy Vee as R2-D2 and Naomi Ackie as Jannah.

Director J.J. Abrams confirmed that the new movie “is the end of the trilogy and it needs to satisfy. We went into this thing knowing it has to be an ending. If years from now, someone’s watching these movies, all nine of them, they’re watching a story that is as cohesive as possible.”
