Big names making the list include MGA Entertainment, Mattel, Lego, Moose, Skyrocket Toys, Jakks Pacific and Zuru.

Tesco has released its Top 10 Toys for Christmas list as the festive season continues to approach.

A range of toys have made the list, from dancing musical animals to licensed offerings based on some of the most popular gaming and movie properties. “Our choices are based on toys that have been popular all year and are likely to be on many Christmas lists,” said Tesco’s Anne Borrett.

Zuru’s Boppi the Booty Shakin’ Llama (£20) has already appeared on a number of retailer’s top toys lists, with Tesco the latest to tip the dancing camelid as a top Christmas contender this year. Items from Lego’s successful Harry Potter range are also proving popular, with the Hogwarts Clock Tower (£85) – which features school classrooms, Dumbledore’s office and eight mini figures with wands and costumes – also making Tesco’s list.

The L.O.L. Surprise! Glitter Globe (£11), fresh from MGA Entertainment’s latest Winter Disco series, acts as a snow globe which fans can use to display their latest glittery BFF, while Blume Dolls (£10), from Skyrocket Toys, sprout and grow from their individual flowerpots when sprinkled with water.

Fisher Price’s Linkimals Smooth Moves Sloth (£35) promises hours of dancing and musical fun for babies this Christmas, and Jakks’ Slap Ninja game (£23) will be a surefire hit with families looking to test their reaction times.

The Toy Story 4 Woody and Buzz Lightyear Arcade 2-Pack from Mattel (£30) is ideal for fans of the beloved franchise, while Fortnite fans can bring the action on the online game to life at home with Moose’s Fortnite Battle Royale Mega Fort building set (£50).

Two of Tesco’s own-brand Carousel offerings have also made the list; the wooden Carousel Dolls House (£50), and the Tesco delivery van (£15) – which comes complete with authentic green delivery boxes.
