The BTHA is very sad to inform the trade that Ian Scott, who served the BTHA for a quarter of a century, has passed away.Screen-Shot-2013-10-09-at-1

Ian Scott was a former chairman (1986-7) and president (1996-8) of the BTHA. In 2006, Ian was the recipient of a BTHA Lifetime Achievement award for his services in the field of toy safety in particular. Ian also served the Toy Retailers Association and the Toy Trust, and assisted many toy companies over the years.

Ian’s family has asked the Association to notify members that a thanksgiving service will follow a private funeral service on Friday 18 October near the family home in Sussex. The service will take place at All Saints with St Nicholas Parish Church, Main Rd, Icklesham, East Sussex, TN36, at 12:15/12.30. Parking is limited at the church, but there is more parking at the village hall close by, where Ian’s wife Daphne has indicated there will be some refreshments after the service.

Colleagues from the industry are very welcome. The Association will be represented.

Daphne has asked that flowers at the funeral and service should be from family only.  Should you wish to make a charitable donation, Ian was a great supporter of the London City Mission and a donation to that institution (which has a Just Giving page here) would be welcome.

Anyone who wishes to write to Daphne personally, or would like to pass on a message, is asked to email Roland Earl at the Association, who will be pleased to facilitate either of those wishes (
