Olly The Little White Van gets augmented reality app

Published on: 11th January 2013

Ideas at Work has developed and released a brand new augmented reality app based on its pre-school TV series Olly the Little White Van.

The new digital app features cutting-edge technology that enables fans to interact and engage with their favourite character in a new way.

The app, released on iTunes worldwide, enables iPad and iPhone users to take Olly into their world, driving the white van in their bedrooms, schools or on the street where they live. The idea behind the new app can be likened to a virtual remote control, enabling kids to take Olly into real-life destinations in an engaging and entertaining way.

Henry Becket, founder of Ideas at Work, the production company behind the show, and creator of Olly the Little White Van, commented: “We know that children love great stories and great characters whether it be through television, printed books or a touchscreen. The Olly Augmented Reality app – we think the first for the pre-school age – is a great way of engaging Olly fans and further expands our licensing and social media programmes.”

Olly the Little White Van has been at the forefront of social media and digital applications since the show launched on CiTV in 2010. Its first app was launched in 2011 achieving over 20,000 downloads and the show has over 1,500 fans on Facebook and Twitter.

The Olly AR app can be downloaded at iTunes worldwide and was developed and designed in the UK.
