Orchard Toys activity books raise £10k for NHS Charities Together

Published on: 12th February 2021

The activity books were produced by Orchard Toys to give back to NHS workers  and help parents at home at the same time.

Orchard Toys has seen phenomenal success from its initiative to support home learning and raise money for the NHS with two bespoke Home Learning Activity Books.

The books saw a fantastic response, with over 1000 sold within half an hour of the launch on social media and the rest of the initial stock selling out within 14 hours, raising £10,000 for NHS Charities Together. The social media posts reached over 150,000 people with many followers sharing their delight that they could donate to charity whilst buying something to help with home schooling.

The books came to life following the success of Orchard Toys’ Free Daily Activity sheets. Launched to support parents and children when home schooling, the activity sheets have seen over 1.3m downloads. Whilst many parents and children have enjoyed the activity sheets over the past year, some parents have been unable to use them to their full potential due to not having access to a printer – which is where the two new Home Learning books come in.

The two books, one suitable for children age 3+ and one for children age 5+, were designed to support both pre-schoolers and school children learning at home. Each book contains a variety of different activities, from colouring sheets to numeracy and literacy activities and much more. Both books retail exclusively online at a special price of just £3 each including postage, of which £2 is donated to NHS Charities Together for every book sold.

Managing director Simon Newbery said: “We expected these books to be popular but we couldn’t have imagined that they’d virtually sell out overnight. It was really important to us as a business to be able to give something back to the NHS workers for all their dedication and hard work, and the fact we are able to do this and help parents at home at the same time is a win win. The support for our Free Activities over the last year has been phenomenal, but we appreciate not everyone has the access to printers so this felt like a good way to offer them an alternative whilst raising money for the NHS.”

NHS Charities Together is a membership organisation representing, supporting and championing NHS Charities. There are more than 240 NHS charities across the UK and Orchard Toys will be making their donation to a charity that supports NHS Staff as a thank you for their hard work during the Coronavirus pandemic.
