Over The Rainbow toy shop to close

Published on: 26th July 2016

The retailer, which is based in Leek, has decided to close its doors after more than eight years of trading.

Over-the-Rainbow-480Owner Jane Powell first opened Over The Rainbow in Derby Street in 2008 after a career working in retail management. In 2013, she then moved to bigger premises in Sheepmarket.

Jane has set Friday 29th July as her last day of trading, although she may close earlier if her final big sale goes well. She commented: “I was set to stay open at least until the end of October but, due to the pressure of declining sales and rising costs, I have now taken the decision to close earlier. I have not gone bankrupt or anything, but if I had carried on, I could have done. It’s just that people’s shopping habits have changed. Not everyone though, as I have had some very loyal customers who I would like to thank for their support over the years.”
