Panini teams up with SoccerStarz

The company will be teaming up with SoccerStarz to produce Panini Superstars of Football figures for this summer’s Euro 2016 tournament.

Panini-480Panini has obtained rights from UEFA for the Euro 2016 tournament as well as individual player rights, and will be selling the Panini Superstars of Football figures alongside its Euro 2016 sticker collection.

The figure collection features one player from all 24 teams playing in this summer’s tournament.

Mark Stinchcombe, head of toy division at Creative Toys Company, the company behind SoccerStarz, commented: “This project created unique problems for us. The objective was to have one player from every team, which meant the line-up couldn’t be finalised until the end of October with the last game of the play-offs. We then had to sculpt the players and get them approved in record time. At its peak we had almost 1,000 workers in China manufacturing Panini Superstars of Football for us. Thankfully, the last eight containers of figures were shipped out just before the factory shut down for Chinese New Year. We had to overcome numerous problems along the way, not the least of which was finding suitable reference images of some of the players for the SoccerStarz sculptors to work on.”

Peter Warsop, Panini’s group licensing director, added: “I’ve been really impressed with the professionalism of the SoccerStarz team. We think the likenesses are superb and I’m sure collectors will love these figures. The Panini Superstars of Football figures really complement our range and will be sold along with stickers from the official Euro 2016 sticker album collection.”
