Playmobil is to open a brand new logistics centre in Germany next year, to cope with increasing global demand.New-Production-Facility-300

The new centre will be used for the shipping of Playmobil toys worldwide, further expanding the toy brand’s European workforce. The main production facility in Dietenhofen reached its capacity after producing over a record 61.3m packages last year.

The building is set to occupy 18 hectares of land in its new home in Bavaria, 25km away from the current plant. The new facilities will serve to further strengthen Playmobil’s thorough quality control process, while retaining proximity to its main European markets. Company owner, Horst Brandstätter, was keen to stay loyal to the region, resisting pressure to relocate production facilities to China.

Jamie Dickinson, marketing manager for Playmobil UK, commented: “We’re very excited to be opening a new production facility for 2014. It’s fantastic that demand continues to grow for Playmobil’s traditional, innovative toys after almost 40 years in the market. We certainly hope this expansion is indicative of great things to come.”
