This year is a landmark year for the Pokémon Company International.
Next month the company marks 20 years since the first games launched in Japan and is gearing up for a period of festivities, which will see the launch of new video games, a trading card game and animation.
The video games Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green were first launched in Japan for the Nintendo Game Boy in 1996.
Since then more than 275m copies of Pokémon video games have been sold worldwide, 21.5bn trading card games cards have been shipped to 74 countries in 11 languages and over 450,000 players take part in Pokémon events every year.
There are also more than 800 episodes spanning 18 seasons of the animated TV show.
Next month, 20 years since the first video games, Pokémon Red, Pokémon Blue and Pokémon Yellow will be relaunched on Nintendo eShop Nintendo 3DS.
The firm will also launch the Pokémon TCG: Generations expansion, which contains more than 110 cards to collect and play with.
As well as the video and trading card games, animated series will be shown on video on-demand platforms and available for download from iTunes, Google Play and Amazon.
