Ravensburger has recently acquired three strong companies and brands – Brio, Wonderforge and Thinkfun. The company has an aggressive growth plan outlined for the next five years and aims to be in the top 10 UK toy companies. The Bicester site employs 23 people, but the team will grow alongside the business. Because people love working for Ravensburger the company seldom needs to externally recruit; the role of Head of Marketing & Product Management has come about through succession planning and an internal promotion.

The Role

The Head of Marketing & Product Management reports directly to the Managing Director and is responsible for a team of five people. The role encompasses consumer marketing and product management and is a senior management team position. Responsible for all products except the games category, this position will be directly responsible for product management, product development, digital marketing and trade marketing. The role has daily communications with stake holders across the Ravensburger group as well as managing licensing relationships. Consumer marketing experience is critical to this role and strong analytical skills will be required. Responsible for a significant product development and marketing budget, this position also oversees consumer marketing, both digital and TV.

Key Responsibilities

• Delivering an aggressive growth strategy for the UK/Ireland market and developing and implementing a rolling 5 year strategy
• Lead/coach/develop the UK marketing and product development team
• Trends analysis of consumer and retailer data to ensure Ravensburger has the right product offering
• Create and implement the annual consumer marketing plan
• Carry out consumer research
• Create the trade marketing plan ensuring the sales team and retailers have the right tools to maximise sales
• Managing licensing relationships
• Responsible for managing a considerable media and product development budget

Requirements for the role

• Several years’ experience in the UK toy industry is mandatory
• Strong analytical skills and ability to identify gaps in the market and capitalise on opportunities
• Several years’ experience in trade/consumer marketing and product management
• Experience with ATL and BTL advertising campaigns
• People management skills and a desire to lead/mentor/manage
• Understanding of UK packaging design requirements
• Good team player working with sales, operations, international contacts
• Strategic capabilities and experience but a hands-on approach is essential
• Experience gained within an international business could be beneficial but is not mandatory
• Experience of licensing would be beneficial but not essential
• CIM qualification or marketing degree is advantageous but not essential
• A fun sense of humour, friendly personality and positive attitude
