The company and its products enjoy a high profile with trade buyers, successfully dealing with virtually all of the major toy, electrical and educational retail channels, proud of its record of excellent service and customer care. The products are backed by a full classical consumer marketing campaign that includes TV advertising.

Job/purpose statement:

Due to the continued expansion of sales to the National accounts and product range, the company now seeks a National Account Manager to join the team and make a significant contribution to further development of sales.

Specific responsibilities:

 To take full responsibility for a portfolio of accounts in the varied sectors of Grocers, Department Stores multiples, mail order and Internet retailers, To develop and implement account business plans for each product category and sector, in depth, tailoring to each account’s needs/strategy, and monitoring progress on a regular basis.
 To gain buyer appointments at the appropriate buying times, presenting products and annual marketing programme, negotiating trading terms and obtain listings of correctly positioned ranges for each account.
 To negotiate/manage joint customer promotional opportunities, in line with company budget.
 To organise buyer preview presentations, and trade show appointments at the appropriate times.
 To attend the annual trade fairs, presenting new ranges and promotional campaign.
 To manage all account administration of quotations, sampling and buyer correspondence, liaising with internal company staff where applicable, to ensure accounts are correctly serviced.
 To monitor progress vs. the plan with the Sales Director on a regular basis, planning corrective action where necessary.
 To develop a detailed understanding and knowledge of the company’s products, market, individual sectors, and key trade issues, which affects the company’s long term plans.
 Because of the need for effective administration and contribution to various management meetings, there will be a need for an amount of time to be spent in the company office. So is office based, the need to be 1 hour to 11/2 hours commute of Abingdon.

Core skills required:

 Must be an experienced National Account Manager, a basics of Account management is required, able to demonstrate success in a quality FMCG non-food sectors, with excellent understanding of business-building and account development.
 Be an effective presenter and negotiator, able to build sound business relationships at various
decision-making levels.
 Will have a full appreciation of the need for well thought out account plans/strategy, and able to fully implement.
 Able to demonstrate initiative and commitment, self-motivation to plan and execute work, setting priorities, targets, and working to deadlines.
 Will need excellent interpersonal skills, able to work within a closely-knit team, relating well to colleagues and staff.
