It’s with deep sadness that we announce the passing of the founder and managing director of Paul Lamond Games, Richard Pain.

Paul-lamond-480Richard went into hospital for a routine minor operation on Friday 20th May, but sadly had a severe stroke on the operating table. Unfortunately the damage was too great and he never regained consciousness. Richard passed away on Thursday 26th May 2016.

Richard was a pivotal part of the games and puzzles industry for over 30 years, not just in the UK but across the globe, creating and producing renowned games that are currently sold all over the world.

Richard Wells, sales director at Paul Lamond, has stepped in as acting managing director. He said: “When I broke the devastating news to the team at Paul Lamond, we all agreed without hesitation that Richard would have wanted us to keep the company going and running smoothly. That is exactly what my fantastic team here at the office, led by Sandra, David and Sophie and our team out on the road intend to do, for Richard’s sake as much as anything else. For now though all our thoughts are with Richard’s son and his family at this very difficult time.”

Details regarding Richard’s funeral will follow, and information will be posted on the company’s website:

Richard Wells can be reached on the office phone number on 0207 254 0100 or via email at He will also be at Distoy this week.
