This weekend will see the annual Rubik’s UK Championship return to Bristol.
The event takes place from 4th to 6th November at The Mercure Bristol Grand Hotel, and is set to have the biggest turnout in history, with over 216 competitors already registered.
The weekend will see current UK champion Robert Yau competing against speedcubers from 18 different countries to defend his title. Last year Yau completed the 3×3 cube in just 9.38 seconds, and he will be aiming to repeat his success at this year’s event.
The Rubik’s UK open event consists of a traditional 3×3 competition as well as additional events including 2×2 Rubik’s Cube, 4×4 Rubik’s Cube, 5×5 Rubik’s Cube, 3×3 Rubik’s Cube one handed, 3×3 Rubik’s Cube blindfolded and 4×4 Rubik’s Cube using only your feet.
Lynette Norris, marketing manager at John Adams Leisure, sponsor of the event, commented: “We are thrilled to be sponsoring the annual Rubik’s UK Championships for the 11th year in a row. It’s always great to see the speedcubers from around the world come together to enjoy something they all love. This year promises to be the busiest and most exciting to date, and we are looking forward to seeing who comes out on top.”
