Sainsbury’s doubles amount of digital and technology staff

150 digital experts have been hired as competition from other retailers increases.

Sainsburys-480Based in Manchester, the new team includes software developers and engineers who will work in partnership with over 900 technology and digital experts based in London and Coventry.

Jon Rudoe, digital and technology director at Sainsbury’s, said: “The world is changing rapidly. Our vision is for Sainsbury’s to have a world-class digital and technology function to ensure that we can deliver great services for our customers, whenever and wherever they want to shop with us”.

The company, which is currently in the process of buying Argos, has more than doubled its digital and technology staff in the last year in preparation for rising competition from other retailers such as Amazon and Tesco.
