Scalextric Demolition Derby wins Editors’ Choice Awards

Published on: 25th January 2013

Hornby Hobbies’ Scalextric Demolition Derby has been voted toy of the show by media visiting the 60th Toy Fair this week in the event’s inaugural Editors’ Choice awards.

More than 300 broadcast, national, consumer and trade journalists have reported from Toy Fair since it opened on Tuesday 22 January and out of the thousands of new toys on display they chose their top three:

1st place: Scalextric Demolition Derby, Hornby Hobbies

2nd place: Legends of Chima: The Lion CHI Temple, Lego

3rd place: HolograFX, John Adams

Majen Immink, senior communications manager, BTHA, said: “We’d like to say a big thank you to all of the journalists who attended Toy Fair and who took the time to vote in our first Editors’ Choice awards.

“Whittling the thousands of amazing toy launches in the hall to a top three is a challenging task to say the least. The toys they have chosen are a great representation of the mix of traditional and hi-tech toys to be found at Toy Fair, and the innovation that floods through the industry year after year to keep toys new and exciting.”
