Scalextric releases Star Wars sets

Published on: 15th August 2012

Scalextric, owned by Hornby Hobbies and working in partnership with Lucasfilm, has released a range of Star Wars Scalextric set products.

Scalextric’s Death Star Attack Micro Scalextric set features X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter. The set is a pursuit battle game on a 3.8m circuit with glow-in-the-dark track and illuminated starfighters. Players pursue each other, with the winner jousting their opponent off the track.

Scalextric’s Battle of Endor Scalextric Start set features Luke Skywalker vs. Biker Scout. Speeder Bikes piloted by Skywalker and a Scout Trooper race around the 4.3m printed Endor forest scene track and duck through the hazards, depicting the famous scene from Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi.

Paul Chandler, Scalextric marketing manager, said: “We have worked on the Scalextric-Star Wars project for over two years now and we are thrilled with the products we have created, working in close partnership with Lucasfilm.”

Derek Stothard, senior director of Global Licensing at Lucasfilm, said: “We are extremely pleased to be working with the team at Scalextric. Their products bring the excitement of Star Wars to a well established category, and we’re sure that fans of Scalextric and of Star Wars will enjoy them.”

Both products are available from Scalextric now.
