A collaboration between Tomy and Sega will develop a plush range of characters under Tomy’s Club Mocchi- Mocchi- brand.
The partnership between Tomy and Sega was announced this week, in a deal that will see Tomy bring to life a collection of characters from the iconic Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. The plush characters will be manufactured under Tomy’s Club Mocchi Mocchi branding; a highly collectible plush range with a unique look and feel that has proved hugely popular to date.
“Sonic is an all-time classic video game character that has evolved into a beloved lifestyle brand and we are thrilled to bring these amazing characters to fans and collectors around the world through our unique Club Mocchi Mocchi brand,” said Tomy’s director of Global Brands, Morgan Weyl. “The signature look and feel of our Club Mocchi Mocchi items will even turn Sonic’s quills in the most huggable quills ever.”
Since his debut in 1991, Sonic the Hedgehog has become a recogniseable and popular figure around the world with an extensive franchise of video games, TV series and, more recently, a Sonic the Hedgehog blockbuster movie, The film’s sequel and a new Netflix Originals animated series, Sonic Prime, are both slated for 2022.
Joining a raft of new product lines developed for the 30th anniversay of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, Tomy’s Club Mocchi Mocchi range will include super soft, squeezable and huggable plush versions of characters from accross the Sonic the Hedgehog universe.
