The results are attributed to strong sales from the company’s portfolio of licences. Frontrunners are Batman, who raced to the top of the box office opening weekend; the Disney Princesses, the introduction of Marvel Superheroes, and the evergreen Star Wars.
Chris Isitt, VP EMEA & Australia, said: “2012 got off to a flying start, with blockbuster releases of Spider-man, The Avengers, Batman The Dark Knight Rises and Disney’s Brave. We were always forecasting a great September, but we smashed budget and have reported our biggest month in the company’s history. Everybody in the UK business has worked fantastically hard to help achieve this brilliant result.”
With significant investment in TV advertising for Q4, the company is forecasting a record-breaking year, and with yet more new licences to launch shortly, including Skylanders, WWE and Smurfs, is on target for a 15th consecutive year of growth.
