The Sooty Show was the second most watched TV show on CiTV for the week ending 11th October, with 160k viewers tuning in for the episode shown on the Tuesday morning.
The Daily Mail has reported that Sooty has been voted the nation’s favourite puppet, claiming the top spot with Kermit the frog and Gordon the gopher following behind in second and third places respectively. The show’s other classic character, Sweep, came fourth.
The Sooty Show was also selected to feature in Vodafone’s recent Happy Journey advert, promoting family friendly content on the move. The advert has played in prime time slots on popular, relevant channels and between programmes such as the Rugby World Cup, X Factor and Downton Abbey since the beginning of September.
Sooty, Sweep and Soo will be returning to headline the Winter Wonderland Christmas theme park at Event City again this festive season.
Abbey Home Media is looking towards a big selling DVD release with Sooty Christmas Crackers, as the boxset has been accepted in more retail outlets than ever, including Asda, Sainsbury’s, HMV, Argos, Matalan, Primark, BHS, Co-Op, Homebase, Boots and Superdrug.
Sooty baby pyjamas are to hit the shelves in Tesco this month. The twin pack features both a Sooty and a Sweep design.
