Spielwarenmesse creates new product group for Model Railways and Model Construction

Published on: 24th August 2018

The new group will be located in Halls 7 and 7A.

The 70th anniversary edition of the Spielwarenmesse, which will take place from 30th January -3rd February 2019 will see a significant change for the Model Railway and Accessories and Model Construction categories. As of next year, both groups will be merged into the new, single product group Model Railway and Model Construction, which will be located in Halls 7 and 7A.

Major brand manufacturers, such as Tamiya, Märklin, Noch and Bachmann, will join smaller niche suppliers to offer a diverse mix of products for trade buyers. Moreover, the profile of the Model Construction segment will be given a sharper definition. Manufacturers whose products are more relevant to the mainstream toy trade will switch to the Electronic Toys category in Hall 4A.

Besides model railways in all gauges and accessories for building dioramas and scenery, the new product group also features model construction sets, die-cast models and innovative radio control models. Hall 7A will also host the special area for small series manufacturers, who will round off the broad spectrum of products with their specialist model railways and accessories.

Ernst Kick, CEO of the Spielwarenmesse, commented: “By merging Model Railways and Model Construction, we’re resetting and strengthening both segments. We will create a product group that is equipped for the future and reflects the interests of our trade visitors.”

This latest move has been met with a positive response from exhibitors. Hall 7A is already nearly fully booked, with just a few spaces remaining.
