Jeans for Genes Day has announced that Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants will be its character ambassador to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the charity.
For the second consecutive year, SpongeBob will be swapping his brown pants in favour of a pair of denim ones along with his friends Patrick, Sandy Cheeks and Gary the Snail.
To celebrate the partnership, exclusive keyrings featuring SpongeBob and his friends sporting their new denim jeans have been created to help raise money for children with genetic disorders.
This year schools are able to sell the keyrings for £2 each in a branded fundraising box on a sale-or-return basis. Each box contains a mixture of the characters. Boxes can be ordered from the charity by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 020 7199 3300.
In aid of the 20th anniversary, SpongeBob will be providing further support for Jeans for Genes Day by completing one of the charity’s 20 Extraordinary Day challenges. SpongeBob will visit schools across the country taking part in several activities including a denim tug of war to help raise awareness of children living with genetic disorders.
Tina McCann, managing director, Nickelodeon UK & Ireland, said: ‘We’re so pleased that SpongeBob SquarePants is once again able to help raise money and awareness for such a worthwhile cause, as well as helping to celebrate a monumental anniversary for Jeans for Genes Day.”
Jeans for Genes Day takes place on 18th September and has raised more than £40million over the last 20 years. For more information click here.
