Stui launches Kickstarter campaign to reinvent letter blocks

Published on: 26th June 2014

Stui, an appcessories educational children’s toy developer, has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise money for the manufacturing of its first product, Wonderblox.wonderblox300

Wonderblox is an iPad app and set of blocks that uses the iPad screen as the play area. It comes with a playset that has an embedded mirror to direct the iPad’s front-facing camera to the play area, allowing children to position the blocks on the iPad screen to spell out words.

Wonderblox detects and locates the play pieces in real-time, allowing a fluid and seamless interaction between the pieces and the iPad. The app’s spelling and letter recognition mechanism can be used in numerous ways to expand the game possibilities for users while ensuring that children have both an enjoyable and educational experience while using the app.

Yoav Dori, co-founder and CEO of Stui, said: “Until now, toymakers have not been able to successfully deliver app-connected toys that are both inexpensive as well as provide children with a robust and engaging play experience. The team at Stui has worked for over a year on building a product that immediately catches and holds the attention of children using the product while making it affordable for parents.”

Wonderblox can differentiate colours and recognise patterns, geometric shapes and letters from every existing language. The company is also working on a stacking mechanism that can detect columns of blocks, adding to the play experience.
