Imangi Studios today announced that Temple Run 2 has been downloaded over 50 million times on iOS, Android and Kindle devices.
Temple Run 2 launched exclusively on the App Store on January 17 and quickly rose to the #1 slot in Free Apps, earning over 6m downloads in less than 24 hours. Following a release on Google Play and Amazon Marketplace, the sequel continued its record-breaking success, racing to the #1 spot, respectively, in each store.
Keith Shepher, co-founder of Imangi, said: “Temple Run has evolved into something so much bigger than us. The game has performed beyond our wildest dreams, and we are thrilled that gamers and fans have embraced Temple Run 2 in such a short period of time.”
Temple Run has expanded to include apparel with children’s sleepwear by Komar in the USA, digital comics with Ape Entertainment, and card and board games with Spin Master, among other licensing partnerships. Plus, recently Lisle International Licensing was appointed as UK licensing agents responsible for sourcing partners for the Temple Run brand.
Gayle Tarrant from Lisle commented: “The great news about Temple Run just keeps on coming and the download figures for the new version are staggering. This is a property that has captured the global download audience and is a clear indication of the tremendous licensing opportunities that it holds. Testament to Temple Run’s popularity has also been the amount of media overage the game is now receiving and here in the UK alone, national and specialist gaming and mobile press are all reporting on the game’s record breaking progress.”
