Tesco has appointed two new executives in creative roles as it seeks new ways to improve sales.
Jill Easterbrook has been appointed as chief customer officer; she has worked at Tesco for 13 years. Matt Atkinson has been picked as chief creative officer and will work on new products. Chief exec Philip Clarke commented: “Both have played a big part in some of the most important initiatives Tesco has carried out over the past few years.”
Tesco is to revamp the functioning of its board by holding an extra meeting this year and providing non-executives with more access to senior management. Tesco’s annual report shows that an evaluation of the board has laid out a series of proposals to implement for the new financial year. Tesco held six formal board meetings last year and concluded that the board “had continued to develop and mature and had performed well against the criteria defined in 2012”.
