The games nights will mark the UK launch of a dozen new board games in 2017.
The two evenings of analogue fun form part of the activities surrounding the touring exhibition, Game Plan: Board Games Rediscovered, organised by the V&A Museum of Childhood. Riding on the renaissance that tabletop gaming is currently enjoying, the exhibition celebrates the joy and excitement of playing board games, and invites visitors to think about their experiences of playing games, plus what kind of player they are.
The games nights are running on Thursday 27th July and Thursday 31st August, and each will have board game experts on hand to guide players through the titles. Included on the playlist are Thames & Kosmos classics such as Kahuna, Lost Cities, Imhotep, and Dimension together with the latest arrivals Word Slam, Kerala, and the popular Exit Game range. Tapping into the current trend for escape room experiences, these team-play Exit Games bring all the problem-solving fun to the table-top.
The titles on offer provide enough diversity of game play so that everyone from seasoned board gamers to tabletop newbies will all be able to take part.
Lyn Palmer, public programming manager for Maidstone Borough Council, commented: “We’re delighted to be hosting these games nights, and thrilled to have such brilliant game titles from Thames & Kosmos.”
Joanna Drage, sales director at Thames & Kosmos, added: “Our games portfolio lends itself perfectly to these evenings, from our more strategic games for more seasoned players to the pick-up-and-play titles that serve as gateway games for newcomers – we’re excited to be part of the celebrations around board gaming.”
