The Entertainer reports strong sales performance during Christmas trading

The company has delivered its fifth consecutive year of like-for-like growth.

Entertainer-480In the five weeks leading up to 31st December 2016, the company posted an increase in total sales of 13.5%, with Friday 23rd December 2016 being the largest trading day during the period. Against strong comparatives like-for-like sales grew by 2.6%.

The performance of, was also extremely strong being 31.7% up year on year with sales relating to The Entertainer’s click and collect service rising 25% year on year.

Gary Grant, founder and managing director of The Entertainer, commented: “Considering the increase in promotional pressure in the toy category and the later start to the consumer buying period, we’re delighted with this result. 2016 was a great year for The Entertainer, we ended the year with 15 new store openings in the UK inclusive of our first store in Northern Ireland, further investment into TV advertising and the expansion of our international operation into Cyprus, all designed to underpin our future growth aspirations.”
