The Entertainer wins Family Business of the Year award

Published on: 24th September 2014

The Entertainer was awarded Family Business of the Year by the Private Business Awards, which took place on 10th September at The Guildhall, London.

The award recognised The Entertainer’s trading success over the last 12 months and its impressive growth, which has seen the UK retailer open a number of new stores both in the UK and abroad, as well as at least five further store openings due before Christmas, including Swindon, St Albans, Ashford, Carlisle and Sheffield.

The Entertainer saw off competition from five other family businesses and was complemented on its balance of retaining its core family values with commercial growth. The retailer, which was founded by Gary Grant and his wife in 1981, still operates in Amersham and continues to involve several generations of the Grant family.

Duncan Grant, strategy director at The Entertainer, said: “It was an honour to pick up this award on behalf of the whole Entertainer family. As a family-run business we believe that no matter how big we become as an international retailer we always retain the original vision created within the first store in Amersham – creating magic and wonder for every child that enters our stores.”
