The Lego Group unveils The Rexcelsior

Published on: 23rd January 2019

Toy Fair used as platform for exclusive global announcement of new product, The Rexcelsior, launching summer 2019.

The Lego Rexcelsior, Rex’s Dangervest spaceship, is shaped like a fist and gives builders of all ages the chance to take control of all-action hero Dangervest’s vessel. The 1,820 piece model features a rapid-fire, 6-missile spring-loaded shooter with shooting function and a trigger in the back, allowing them to role-play space missions with Rex, Emmet and Rex’s raptor crew. The global exclusive was revealed at Toy Fair UK on the 22nd January 2019.

Building on the successes of last year, which marked 60 years of the iconic brick, The Lego Group is continuing to inspire and develop the next generation of builders through exciting new play innovations at Toy Fair in 2019, including sets that will see ‘fluid’ play come to the fore, effortlessly combining physical and digital play experiences.

Coined the year to #StayPlayful, the brand is asking families to take on the 2019 play pledge and celebrate the power of building play and its impact on creativity and imagination, skills that continue to grow in importance for kids and adults, as evidenced by The Lego Play Well Report 2018.

In line with the movie release, and inspiring families of all ages and abilities, The Lego Groups’ new range of The Lego Movie 2 products gives the opportunity to extend the Lego Movie experience into the home. Families can build sets together and unlock endless creativity and imagination by stepping in to Emmet’s world, re-living the action and adventure of the film.
