The NPD Group strengthens UK point-of-sale nursery panel

Four retailers will join in the second half of the year.

Planned for the end of Summer 2012, The NPD Group will add four retailers to the 12-strong retail panel, providing POS data for all major nursery and baby equipment categories. This follows the upgrade of its toy retail panel last year, when The NPD Group integrated six new retailers to its existing panel to build coverage among European countries.

Department store John Lewis and the grocer Sainsbury’s will be accompanied by Kiddicare and Babies ‘R’ Us. Together, these retailers will complement the existing panel to deliver the most representative view of the UK nursery market since its launch in 2007.

Jez Fraser-Hook, UK executive director of NPD Toys, Nursery and License, said: “We are delighted that these prominent retailers have agreed to participate in our panel. The addition of these four new retailers, including two of the largest specialists in Britain, Babies ‘R’ Us and Kiddicare, will add significant value to the information we report from our retail panel, and provide the industry with its most detailed view of the market to date.”
