The Pokémon Company teams up with Tesco

The company is teaming up with Tesco this May for its first-ever trading card game promotion. 

pokemon-480The promotion will see free standing units installed in 250 Tesco stores which will contain XY-Fates Collide booster packs, Shiny Mega Gyarados Boxes and Pokémon 2016 spring tins. The product range is live in stores now until 12th June, and will be supported by a TV advertising campaign running across 13 channels including: ITV2, CITV, Boom, Cartoon Network, Disney, Nickelodeon, Kix and Pop.

Launched on 2nd May, Pokémon TCG: XY-Fates Collide is the 10th Pokémon XY expansion and centres around Alakazam Ex and Zygarde. The expansion contains 120 cards and introduces five new Pokémon Break and 13 new Pokémon EX cards.

The Shiny Mega Gyarados box comes with a Shiny Mega Gyarados promo card, a Shiny Magikarp promo card, and an oversized card of Shiny Mega Gyarados EX. Also included are three XY set booster packs, and a code card to receive Shiny Mega Gyarados for the Pokémon TCG Online. The Pokémon 2016 spring tin contains one of three special foil Pokémon-EX cards, four Pokémon TCG booster packs, and a code card to also unlock a playable deck in the Pokemon TCG Online.

Last year was record-breaking for the Pokémon Trading Card Game, and sales are already up by +75% compared to 2015. We aim to capitalise on this throughout our 20th anniversary year, with a host of of exciting partnerships and promotions, as well as looking forward to further TCG initiatives in the coming months.”
