The Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship to commence 5th August

The highly-anticipated two-day event will see the best duelists worldwide challenge each other for the honour of securing one of three titles. 

Yu-Gi-Oh! WCSFollowing the February announcement of the return of the Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship (WCS), Konami Digital Entertainment B.V. has announced the official dates and venue for the two-day event. The prestigious card game tournament, returning for the first time since 2019, will take place on August 5th-6th at the Tokyo Big Sight (Tokyo International Exhibition Center) in Japan.

The Yu-Gi-Oh! WCS 2023 will feature three separate tournaments for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Official Card Game, Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links and, for the first time, Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel.

Konami has also announced details on the qualification rounds for Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links and Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel. All duelists will be able to compete in-game for the Yu-Gi-Oh! WCS 2023 Qualifiers for a chance to battle it out in the championship in person.

The Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel WCS 2023 Qualifiers begin on May16th, while the Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links WCS 2023 Qualifiers begin on May 30th. The full schedule of the WCS 2023 Qualifiers for both titles is as follows:

  • Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel 1st Stage – 12pm, 16th May – 11:59am, 29th May (UTC+8)
  • Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel Regional Qualifiers – 1pm 26th May – 11:59am 29th May (UTC+8)
  • Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links 1st Stage – 3:30pm, 30th May – 12:59pm, 12th June (UTC+8)
  • Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links Regional Qualifiers – 1pm, 9th June – 12:59pm, 12th June (UTC+8)

The format for Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel WCS 2023 Finals will be Team Battle, with eight teams formed from the strongest duelists worldwide battling it out to win the championship.

The final stages of the Yu-Gi-Oh! WCS 2023 qualification process for the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG will take place this summer, with qualifying duelists invited to championships in Europe and Oceania. The Yu-Gi-Oh! European Championship is now confirmed for 30th June – 2nd July at the Jaarbeurs exhibition centre in Utrecht, Netherlands.
