This year’s longlist of Christmas DreamToys announced

Published on: 9th November 2022

The longlist of 72 standout toys, from which the DreamToys Top 12 is chosen, is split into eight categories spanning a range of price points and play patterns.

DreamToysThe Toy Retailers Association has today announced its full list of toys which are expected to be the most sought after this Christmas. This year’s list showcases 72 toys chosen by a panel of retailers and industry experts, independent of toy manufacturers and makers.

Paul Reader, new chair of the DreamToys selection committee, commented: “This year’s full DreamToys list represents a diverse and exciting range of toys which will delight children this festive season. We have selected the very best across a wide range of toys to suit multiple ages: we hope the list can be a useful guide to parents and gift givers across the country.”

Paul added: “Toys at Christmas can be a catalyst in bringing families closer together and bring joy and excitement to Christmas morning. This year’s cast of stars includes games for the family, dolls and action figures, toys inspired by video games, films and TV, games that inspire imaginative, creative and nurturing play, and some that even bring an element of surprise.”

This year, whilst picking the toys, the panel were mindful in selecting a list that represented value for money with a range of products to suit every parents’ pocket. Out of the 72 toys selected this year as main-present toys, 49 are under £30 and the average price of the list is £28.

Furthermore, all the unused products from the Dream Toys event are donated to children’s charities each year. Last year just under £23,000 worth of toys went to help children that may otherwise not have had a toy on Christmas day.

The full list can be viewed below and on the DreamToys Facebook page.

The list of 72 toys has been broken down into eight categories: the 12 Top Toys are then selected from this longlist. (Bold indicates one of the 12 Top Toys. All prices are quoted as RRPs, but market price may vary from retailer to retailer. The toys are listed in alphabetical order, not ranked, as are the categories.)
