Over 1,000 Thomas fans attended yesterday’s premiere screening at the Odeon in London’s Leicester Square.
Sophie Ellis Bextor and Stacey Solomon were among celebrities walking the blue carpet and the event opened with a performance from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra on the Odeon balcony. A nine foot Thomas replica engine greeted guests.
Celebrating 70 years of Thomas, the new movie is the brand’s biggest theatrical release to date showing in over 400 cinemas across the country this summer.
The 60-minute movie sees Thomas and his friends embark on a new adventure scouring the Island of Sodor for lost treasure. It is voiced by a lineup of stars including Eddie Redmayne, Sir John Hurt, Jamie Campbell Bower and Olivia Coleman.
The feature film will air across cinemas in the UK from the 17th July until 1st August. The movie will also be screened with music from the soundtrack performed live by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at Cadogan Hall on 26th and 27th August. The DVD will be released on 28th September.
