Vivid Toy Group and original Blue Peter presenter Anthea Turner have celebrated 50 years of Tracy Island by unveiling original and new interactive models.
The presenter’s original Tracy Island model was unveiled on Blue Peter in 1993, and the demonstration of how to build a replica Thunderbirds base using papier-mache and toilet paper tubes gathered over 100,000 factsheet requests.
This year, Vivid has launched an all-new interactive Tracy Island to tie in with ITV Studios and Pukeko Pictures’ reinvention of the TV series, Thunderbirds Are Go. The new interactive Tracy Island is packed with electronic features, moving sections and sound effects, and is designed to bring the Tracy brothers’ HQ to life for a new generation.
2015 see’s the 50th anniversary of the Thunderbirds TV series, which launched on 30th September 1965. This year will mark the third time Vivid Toy Group have launched Tracy Island as part of their Thunderbirds toy range.
