Published on: 8th June 2016

The master toy licensee and distributor for Pokémon has reported record-breaking figures for its range of action figures and plush.

PokemonThe UK YTD Pokémon EPOS sales are up 144%. The first quarter results are performing at more than double in comparison to January to March 2015, showing that Pokémon is still continuing to attract legions of new fans.

Tomy is celebrating the property’s milestone 20th year with a range of limited edition action figures and plush. The company is committed to creating individual product programmes for each of its major retail partners. Throughout the year retailers will release exclusive products, allowing fans the opportunity to collect unique and limited edition Pokémon characters.

“We’re very excited to be part of Pokémon’s 20 year celebrations,” said Eleanor Bridgman, Europe head of brand, boys and entertainment at Tomy. “Not only does it allow us the opportunity to plan a full year of dedicated activity, which is already producing some great results at retail, but it also affords us a fantastic opportunity to expand our product range and reach fans in new channels.”

Tomy has built on its core figure range by introducing new characters in proportionate scale, allowing kids to recreate the world of Pokémon as they experience it in the animation. The 2016 range has something for collectors of all ages with characters such as Pikachu translated into new feature plush and new larger scale characters introduced with more articulation for Pokémon battles.
