Tomy takes Greedy Granny on tour in Smyths stores

Published on: 4th September 2017

Tomy Toys has announced a series of Greedy Granny shopper events in several Smyths stores across the UK.

Kicking off on Sunday, 10th September at the Staples Corner store to coincide with National Grandparents Day, the in-store events will give fans the opportunity to play with the real life Greedy Granny in the flesh.

Greedy Granny will be on the road from September to November, with appearances at Smyths stores in London, West Sussex, Leeds, and West Yorkshire. Children will be able to dress up like Greedy Granny and have their photo taken with the much-loved character. There will be rewards with Greedy Granny balloons and of course plenty of biscuits, courtesy of Granny herself.

Amy Matthews, PR and promotions executive for Smyths Toys Superstores, commented: “We are delighted to be working with Tomy on this event, it is great to be able to provide our customers with an enjoyable experience in our stores. Our aim is to offer a fun-filled shopping experience for all of our customers and what better way to do that then offer them the chance to meet the real Greedy Granny and play the game in-store.”

Severine Hemms, Tomy senior trade marketing manager added: “We are very excited to be partnering with Smyths to kick off the games peak season. Launched a year ago, Greedy Granny has proved to be a top selling children’s game, thanks to its quirkiness. Kids just love the idea of stealing biscuits from Greedy Granny without waking her up. The Greedy Granny Tour is a great opportunity to share the fun and mischief of the game ahead of the Christmas season. We know that in games, getting children and adults to play the game is the winning formula to raise interest and drive sales.”
