Topps Cards win ‘Ultimate Playground Craze’ title

Topps has been selected as one of this year’s ‘Ultimate Playground Crazes’ by for two of its newly-launched trading card collections.

The new 2012-13 edition of Match Attax, the official Premier League trading card game, and Skylanders Giants, a brand new trading card collection, have each been awarded as one of the top playground crazes of the moment by, the online parenting publication. The two collections, which launched in September, were reviewed and awarded as top choices by a panel of school children, to discover the most popular games on the playground.

Rod Pearson, marketing director for Topps, commented: “We’re delighted that the Match Attax and Skylanders Giants trading card collections have been chosen by as ‘Ultimate Playground Crazes’. Skylanders Giants is a brand new collection for us, so it’s fantastic that the trading cards have been well received on the playground within only a matter of weeks since the launch.”

Charlotte Kerr from added: “Instead of telling parents what we think children are going to be playing with this school term, we asked schoolchildren to pick their top toys which are seriously popular on their playground and show no signs of slowing down.”

Match Attax is the official Barclays Premier League Trading Card Game and the new 2012-13 edition has a new look, stats and Super Skill sets. The Skylanders Giants Trading Card collection features characters from Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure, the kids’ adventure game by Activision, as well as new characters from the recently launched Skylanders Giants game.
