Smyths Toys won the award for Overall Toy Retailer of the Year.
Following the winners of the Toy and Supplier of the Year awards, the Toy Retailer of the Year awards were also announced by BTHA Chairman, Phil Ratcliffe.
The winners are as follows:
Independent Toy Retailer of the Year: Aladdin’s Cave
Specialist Multiple Toy Retailer of the Year (up to 5 stores): Toytown (Seaford)
Specialist Multiple Toy Retailer of the Year (up to 30 stores): Toy Barnhaus
Specialist Multiple Toy Retailer of the Year (over 30 stores): Smyths Toys
General Multiple Toy Retailer of the Year: Argos
Department Store Toy Retailer of the Year: W J Daniel & Co
Online Toy Retailer of the Year: Shop Direct
The BTHA presented Golden Teddy awards to Tom Beach of the toy industry’s technical and safety world, and Mike Frost of Generation Media. The TRA also paid tribute to the personal achievement of Paul Dean, who is retiring from Mattel, for his commitment to supporting the independent sector throughout his career.
Phil Ratcliffe commented: “On behalf of the BTHA, I would like to congratulate all of the winners of this years Toy Retailer Awards. It was pleasing to see an increase in entries this year, especially from the independent sector and UK department stores. The judges deliberated long and hard to find this years winners because of the very high standard of entries received. Congratulations must also go to our worthy runners-up who, it should still be remembered, were the best in their categories.”
