The Toy Trust has raised over £200,000 in 2013 through numerous events and activities, bringing comfort and relief to disadvantaged children both home and abroad.toytrustbikes300

The main beneficiary in 2013 was the ‘Special Bikes for Special Kids Appeal’ in association with Handicapped Children’s Action Group. The charity received £90k raised by the Toy Trust’s main 2013 event ‘The Big Kids Bike Ride’ which took place this Summer involving 165 cyclists and a 20 strong support team circling the Isle of Wight.

Carole Davies, administrator for Handicapped Children’s ‘Action’ Group, said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to The Toy Trust for choosing us as recipients of the funds raised through their ‘Special Bikes for Special Kids’ bike ride in June 2013. The grant means we were able to provide special needs tricycles to over 80 children with disabilities. The children, for various reasons, are unable to ride normal bicycles, but by providing these specialised trikes, they not only give fun in bucket loads, they also provide a means of independent movement and exercise.”

Other events held in 2013 in aid of the industry’s charity included the BTHA/Toy Trust Golf Day, the Hasbro seven-a-side football tournament and the annual media auction, as well as numerous other individual activities and generous donations. Plans for 2014 activities are well under way and will be publicised in due course.

Foye Pascoe, chair of the Toy Trust, said: “A big thank you to all those involved in fundraising on behalf of the industry in 2013. The money raised has once again enabled us to award some very deserving grants to children all round the world. We appreciate the unwavering support of the industry and look forward to continuing the good work in 2014.”
