The eco-friendly building kit from Istanbul based Toyi has been awarded an iF Design Award 2021, in the Product category.
First conceived by product designer Elif Atmaca as a solution to allow kids who live in disadvantaged areas to transform their surroundings through play, Toyi has been awarded with an iF Design Award 2021.
Toyi kits consist of wheels, feet, eyes, joints, sticks, flexible connectors and junction parts, with which kids aged 6+ can use to transform any object around them into a toy of their own creation. Thanks to Toyi, a water bottle can be transformed into a six armed robot, old boxes can become train compartments or a pine cone can come to life as a monster.
Toy World featured an exclusive interview with Ögeday Uçurum and Elif Atmaca of Toyi earlier this year, who told us more about the products in the range, how the collection is proud to be environmentally friendly, and what products are upcoming in the future. Toyi believes that its responsibility towards children means more than simply making them happy with toys, it includes sharing the responsibility for the future of our planet. The company is proud to be sustainable in every sense: not only does it use 100% recycled plastic and paper, it also allows children to upcycle disposable objects as key parts of their toys, and the product has a long lifetime thanks to its potential for limitless transformations. Toyi aims to shifts children’s perspectives on consumption and production from an early age, an ethos which the company hopes will have an impact for years to come.
The range has already gained recognition in the toy industry and is delighted to add the Design Award 2021 to the accolades it has already received, including the Parent’s Choice Award 2020 and the Play Creators Rising Star Award 2020.
Toyi already works with numerous retailers and distributors in 12 countries around the world, and is keen to expand distribution. For more information on stocking the range, visit www.toyi.io or contact gizem@toyi.io.
