Toymaster Show in full swing

The first day closed with Golden Teddies presented to Toymaster’s Paul Reader and Peterkin’s Dave Goves.

toymaster480The Golden Teddies were presented by BTHA chairman Phil Ratcliffe at Tuesday evening’s Christmas-themed function. These popular awards were the culmination of a successful first day of the show, which saw the Majestic Hotel busy from the off.

Toymaster development manager Will Abigail confirmed to Toy World that 130 Toymaster members had pre-registered to attend this year’s show, while a further 86 non-members had also pre-registered. In addition, Will observed a number of retailers who had simply turned up on the opening day of the show, and professed himself to be happy with both the level of attendance and the mood of attendees so far, with a further two days to go.

Will also confirmed that he and Paul Reader will be visiting the Licensing Expo in Las Vegas next month. It is the first time that Toymaster has sent a delegation to the show, and Will told Toy World that part of his remit is to engage with licensing companies and tell them more about Toymaster and the benefits of working in partnership with the retailer. He commented: “ Toymaster has 250 High Street windows across the UK, which provides licensing companies with an excellent opportunity to highlight their latest properties. Our windows are already sold out for the rest of this year and the first four months of next year, but it’s important to look ahead and see which licensors and brands would be a good fit further down the line, and we’re looking forward to meeting up with licensors to hear more about their plans for 2017.”
