Turtle-Powered UK licensees announced

Published on: 17th July 2012

Nickelodeon and Viacom Consumer Products have announced that over 30 UK licensees are set to be signed for the brand new series of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

The deals cover all product categories, which means that the slate of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles licenses will be the largest number of UK license agreements attached to a Nickelodeon property before a series premiere. The animated series will premiere on Nickelodeon this October while the first products to come from the agreements, action figures from Flair, the master toy distributor on behalf of Playmates Toys, will be available to buy within the UK in December.

Mark Kingston, VP Consumer Products UK, Australia, Russia, Israel and CEE, Retail Sales and Trade Marketing Europe, said: “The reaction from licensee and retail partners to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is unlike anything that we have ever seen before and being able to announce a roster of agreements such as this is just phenomenal. I think the enthusiasm around the property speaks to the extraordinary appeal of the brand. Our partners recognise the strength of the Turtles, the opportunities that lay in the series’ unique mix of comedy and action along with its striking visual style. There really is nothing out there like this property and I can’t wait to see Leo, Raph, Donnie and Mikey emerge from the sewers of New York to take over the high streets of the UK.”

In addition to Flair in the toy category, Worlds Apart will be developing a bedroom and outdoor play range, while Sambro will be launching wheeled goods, games and, arts and crafts. A host of accessories and gift partners will be developing ranges such as VMC and Zeon.

Copywrite Designs will be developing stationery product for back to school, with greetings cards and other party supplies being handled by Hallmark and Amscan. More partners within the UK and at an international level are set to be announced within the coming weeks.
